Western Manitoba has Lakes which produce either Brown or Rainbow Trout over 30". We are a world class fly fishing entity and North America's best kept secret. Not only does your dollar go further here but you can fish them all in in a week.

There are other Lakes which produce large fish but the author is not aware of any that can produce over 30".
Barbe Lake North of the Pas has some large fish but after that the scud population dies down and the fish do not grow as fast or as big although they can live longer, like in the Thompson Area and some large fish are available if you want to drive 10 extra hours.
A warning. Get your fly patterns before you leave home. There is only one fly shop and its at the North East end of the map. You'll want to visit it, I'm sure, but better bring your own.
What patterns to bring? If you tie your won get Bob's book of fly patterns. It will be the most sensible way to approach things and the least expensive when ensuring the success of your trip. If you don;t tie your own then take the pattern to your tier and have him or her crank you some. They work!
There are lots of motels and watering holes, but this isn't an ad for them.
